Happy 25th Birthday, Space Invaders!
Space Invaders is 25 years old. Riding a wave of ’80s old-school geek chick, the cult Japanese game is experiencing a renaissance. On April 25th, Space Invaders for PS2 launches around the world — and mobile versions are said to be in the works.
Paris-based online/realspace boutique colette will sell the remake. They’ll also be selling tons of other cool Space Invaders schwag like t-shirts, key holders, books, and more. Tuesday 29th April is evidently Space Invader Day with intergalactic gaming competitions planned in Japan, Paris, and elsewhere.
Space Invaders 25th aniversay.. damn, and to think, i played that game like crazy as a kid. I’m old :p

Had a wicked meal last night. Steak. Jenn used to eat her steak well done, but I’ve since fixed that problem. I have trouble trying to grasp the idea of somebody enjoying a strip of boot leather. Jenn cooks a damn good steak.

It’s a well known fact that Seinfield is a huge Superman fan, most, if not all of the episodes of his cult-tv show featured some form of the superman icon in the background, a sort of inside joke.

The News
This page is pretty neat – it gives you a good visual overview of the days’ news, with a handful of filtering options, and live updating.
I’ve had this running full-screen on a second monitor all day, and I’m digging it. I’ve got it set for Canadian News at the moment, but you can view a whole bunch of differnt countrys just by using the links at the top. Or you could just view Canada and the US, most major news is there.

Tropical.. Canada?
There’s a plan afoot for Canada to annex the beautifully sunny Turks and Caicos islands. Why?
Turks and Caicos would give Canada a warm, friendly 11th province – a southern destination where the Loonie could land without breaking a wing.
Personally, I’m all for it. I wouldnt mind being able to go south, and not have to worry about dealing with immigration people.

Well.. Movie time
Ok, so I’ll admit it. I like Harry Potter. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, lets move on, shall we?
There’s a new Trailerfor the 3rd Harry Potter movie (the Prisoner of Azkaban), and they’ve already got a director for the 4th one (The Goblet of Fire).
That and there looks like another aliens movie after this Alien vs Predator mess is out of the way, that makes what.. 5 ? and they just released the exclusive box set of DVDs. Glad I didn’t pick up that box set like I wanted to. This just goes to add more weight to my argument of never buying box sets, unless they come in chapters (ala TV show DVD sets).
Even HR Giger (my fav artist) doesn’t like what they’ve done to his orginal Aliens.

Dress Up Jebus

So reads an Action Alert sent to the several million members of the Reverend Donald Wildmon’s American Family Association which urges concerned christians to bombard Urban Outfitters with letters condemning the allegedly blasphemous magnets. But there is no need to even buy them when you can play “Dress up Jesus” online! – “Dress up Jesus by dragging the items to him with your mouse.”, reads the offending website. From the AFA’s suggested letter text : “While you may think it is “cute,” your decision shows a great disrespect toward people of faith everywhere.”
To say that I dislike the AFA would be to put it mildly, but I kinda think that freedom of speach only goes so far. Even I think the magnet is sort of insensitive to those christian folk ou there.

Finally got around to picking up a dvd burner, was waiting for a great sale to show up, and ncix finally did me right with the burner I wanted for about 115 bucks. Yay!

SeaQuest DSV Motherfuckers
So. The year was 1996, and there I was sitting in my grandmothers living room, enjoying the final episode of SeaQuest DSV, and just as it was about to getting interesting.. they break for a ‘special news segment’. So what does Rob see? A white ford bronco driving down the highway. I figure, whoever this OJ guy is, will get busted in a few minutes, and I’ll get to finish my show… The show that I’ve been waiting to see for about 3 months. About 3 hours into the damn news special, I take the hint, and goto bed, pissed off and bitter.
Being in Canada, we don’t get all the cool american stations that probally re-broadcast the show. So the year is now 2004, and I’ve yet to see that god damned final episode.
But, Space has finally done me right where NBC fucked me in the goatass. As of April 3rd, SeaQuest will be back on the air and I’m damn near speachless with joy.

Little Friend?
So, I’m thinking of picking up a little friend for our budgie. Maybe a cute baby hand tamed one. If I do, I’ve got two options for cages, both are pretty swanky. Cage No. 1 and Cage No. 2 are both huge, but No. 2 is 4 inchs bigger then No. 1. I’m thinking that extra space is good, especially since they come with deluxe stands with storage room in them.
