Heh, nice.

Got an email from a buddy of mine saying that he’d picked up a funny laptop case.
I had to share this find. I recently purchased a high-quality computer sleeve from a small boutique manufacturer. I was checking if it could be washed. The photo is the attached tag with the washing instructions in both English and French. The English is exactly what you would expect and so is the French, for the first 6 lines. The last three lines of French are most interesting. “We are sorry that our President is an idiot. We didn’t vote for him.” Given recent strained relations between our two countries, it’s good to see that not all Americans agree with the current administration.
It’s made by the designer Tom Bihn. It rocks.

American Patriot

London is a breathtakingly old city, packed with history. Lest you forget this fact, the city is filled with buildings adorned with plaques that tell you when Samuel Pepys lived there, or which novels Charles Dickens wrote while residing at that address. There are plaques not just for obvious London suspects like Gilbert & Sullivan and Winston Churchill, but for foreigners like Frederic Chopin (who gave his last public performance at #4 St. James Place) and Karl Marx(who lived at 28 Dean Street while writing Das Kapital). George Frederick Handel has a plaque at 25 Brook Street, and next door at 23 Brook Street is a plaque to Jimi Hendrix–as if some cosmic force has ensured that musicians in London are arranged in strictly alphabetical order.
Even amongst this distinguished company, there is one plaque in London that is unequelled for the pleasure it gives to all who behold it. It is a tribute to a great American patriot, and it cannot help but stir the noblest feelings in all those of my countrymen who have the privilege of gazing upon it.

That is an actual, unretouched photo of a plaque that adorns a historic building on Gloucester Place, a few blocks south of the Baker Street tube station.
I don’t know who wrote the text that emblazons it, or when. I don’t know if there’s any significance to the fact that it’s about twice the size of Ben Franklin’s plaque. What I do know is that it serves as proof that history is not always written by the winners. Sometimes, it’s written by whoever has access to metalworking equipment.
My favorite part is the logo of the interlocking British and American flags. Thanks to that graphic, even a passerby who’s never heard of Major General Arnold can know that, whatever the man did, it must have been something great for the cause of Anglo-American friendship.

Khaaaaaaan!!

And they’re off.

Send in the clones

What the hell is up with all the recent genetic labs going public with cloning activity? Pretty crazy stuff.
Genetic Savings and Clone is the first company to offer domestic animal cloning to the consumer. For just $50,000 you can have an exact replica of Fifi or Snowball. The company’s founder claims this is a boon for loving pet owners. Others aren’t so sure.
Godsend Institute offers up this explanation of their cloning procedures. Since Dolly, several scientists have cloned other animals, including cows and mice. Now, at Godsend, we have pioneered a technique that allows a cell nucleus from a recently deceased child to be implanted within a human egg, allowing a mother to carry that child to term again.

Feeling good

Looks like my flu has pretty much been licked. Kick ass.

Bike Bike Bike

Finally got around to picking up a new bike. Picked up a 2003 Specialized Hardrock Cr-Mo. Not a bad bike at all. Course, I got the yellow one. The only diff between that picture and my bike is the RST fork on it, need to upgrade that.
I like it, hooked up with Firlotte there by accident, which was cool.

Why Music Sucks..

How you remind me of someday. What you are hearing is Nickelback’s “Someday” in your left speaker and “How you remind me” in the right.
All of those left shocked please raise their hands.

Sickness part 2

Damn, its been near a month now, and the doctors tell me its just a virus and suck it up. Well fuck. I’ve been sick as hell, sinus’s full, throat sore, and heacaches non-stop for a month, and i’m just supposed to deal with it? Fucking Hell.
Oh, and the best part, no medication! yay.

Dr. Who – Updates

Christopher Eccleston has been chosen to be the scruffiest Dr Who ever.
Another great tv-show modernised, I hope they do a good job with this one, it’s by far one of my most favorite tv shows of all time.

Underwood Case Mod

Oh dear sweet crap. I would so love to build one of these and send it to Stephen King, he’d probally die from laughing though. Thats the type of case modding I love, fuck thats funny as hell.
Speaking of mods, this one is for PaulFirlotte.com, he has a problem with leds, so I figure he’ll love this

Send your future self an email

FutureMe lets you address an email to yourself and set a date in the future to have it sent — pass an email to yourself in ten years reminding yourself about your vow to never, ever drink peach schnapps again and see how well you’re faring.

Tron

While we’re speaking of the 80’s, I”d like to post this, I found it while looking for cool movie costumes. This guy made himself an incredibly faithful reproduction of the costumes from Tron, including the glowing piping around the seams. Yupp, you guessed it, this guy is a virgin.

Happy 25th Birthday, Space Invaders!

Space Invaders is 25 years old. Riding a wave of ’80s old-school geek chick, the cult Japanese game is experiencing a renaissance. On April 25th, Space Invaders for PS2 launches around the world — and mobile versions are said to be in the works.
Paris-based online/realspace boutique colette will sell the remake. They’ll also be selling tons of other cool Space Invaders schwag like t-shirts, key holders, books, and more. Tuesday 29th April is evidently Space Invader Day with intergalactic gaming competitions planned in Japan, Paris, and elsewhere.
Space Invaders 25th aniversay.. damn, and to think, i played that game like crazy as a kid. I’m old :p

Xiao!

Remember all those crazy Stick figure karate swf’s? Yeah, well if not, this is new to you, I managed to find a place with all of them, yay me! So being the nice guy that I am, here they are.
One (this one is an avi), Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine.
I got hyped to find these after the latest cartoon over at HomeStarRunner.com. Yes, I know, it says “Under Construction”, let the window sit for a while, if you close it too fast, you miss the whole damn thing.

Mod

Finally got the mod in, now to be doing some flashing and hw swapping. Yay!

Liberation!

I was reading through the latest maxim, the one with marge simpson on the cover ( that sexy wench ) and I found this in the back. The Liberator. Hah, wicked awesome is all I have to say. Wicked.. Awesome.

Super Food

Had a wicked meal last night. Steak. Jenn used to eat her steak well done, but I’ve since fixed that problem. I have trouble trying to grasp the idea of somebody enjoying a strip of boot leather. Jenn cooks a damn good steak.

I’m Gay!

oh wait, no I’m not. April Fools!
Here are some cool links related to the day though. The top 100 April Fools day hoxes of all time.
The PC EZ-Bake Oven. Thing is, I WISH that was real.
I don’t actually know if this is real or not, but if not, it should be. IF Quake, Quake, as seen through the eyes of a mud, leet.

Oh, Yes, Wyoming!

Why don’t you reverse the rotation of the Earth, go back in time and read the directions?” Jerry Seinfeld, Superman and a stolen DVD player. Yeah, it’s part of an American Express promotion, but it’s cleverly done.
One commercial for now, but the next wil be there soon. Yay. Oh, also found this Good Morning America piece on the Seinfield/Superman ads.
It’s a well known fact that Seinfield is a huge Superman fan, most, if not all of the episodes of his cult-tv show featured some form of the superman icon in the background, a sort of inside joke.

GBASP – NES ?

Nintedo’s finally shipping a Game Boy Advance skinned to look like a first-generation Nintendo Entertainment System controller, with a suite of classic NES games. And let me be the first to say, its about damn time.

The News

This page is pretty neat – it gives you a good visual overview of the days’ news, with a handful of filtering options, and live updating.
I’ve had this running full-screen on a second monitor all day, and I’m digging it. I’ve got it set for Canadian News at the moment, but you can view a whole bunch of differnt countrys just by using the links at the top. Or you could just view Canada and the US, most major news is there.
